12.12.12

What an unusual unique date. This date 12th December 2012 has been explained as the date the world was going to end. But this information was false. This date only comes once and never to come again.

Well it was featured by the movie 2012. This movie was created in 2009. We Were Warned some say but this year has totally change.

Do you believe that the world is going to end.

My Freinds

Makayla, Annexe, Jessica are my friends. As you can see they are all girls. When I am upset or have trouble I can count on them. I think??? Sometimes  friends have their ups and downs but they always have your back no matter what.

Beginning the year 8 camp trip

FYear 8 Camp by Te Roimata

Squeaky wheels of suitcases rolled towards the Pt England hall along with the other bags that were lined from biggest to smallest for the trip to Ngaruawahia.

Gathering into the hall with our bags lined up, Year 8 campers were really excited to get away from school and have a great 4 days at camp.

Tuesday the 4th was the day that we left. But before we left we had to get into our groups. There were 8 groups. Waingaro A & B, Taupiri A & B, Waikato A & B and also Ngaruawahia A & B.  That's heaps right? Anyway out of 8 groups I was in Waingaro B.

Waiting and waiting for the bus we lined in our groups in the breeze. If you don't know what a breeze is I could tell you. At our school a breeze is just a shade area. So if you don't have a hat and your supposed to you just go into the breeze. Any way back to the story.

We lined up to wait for the bus. To pass time Mrs Nua asked us to pick our captains for our group. Our leaders were Selena H and Matthew Ryan because they would make the best leaders in our team.

Finally the bus had arrived. First there were helpers to load the bus before we aboard the bus. After everything was finished we were separated into two buses. 25 on one bus and 30 on another.

That was how we began our trip towards Ngaruawahia.

The Tragic Summer Narritive

Down on a  beautiful countryside right on a hill lived a family of four, Susie (Mum), Matthew (Dad), Christian and Max. It was very hot and the family wondered what they might do in the hot summers heat.

Heat was bursting through their beautiful lounge windows.  “What a hot day” stated Dad. “Who wants to go for a swim?” he asked enthusiastically as though he wants to get out of the house quickly. “We do!” shouted the two kids excited to go swimming. The only way they could get down to the beach was to slide down a huge slide and land right on the beach. It was created in 1975 by their great ancestors.

“Yay!” the kids screamed and shouted as they felt the cool waters beneath their feet. “This is way better than being cooped up inside the house” explained Mum. This was more than a simple summer but an really overrated one. Where the sun was beating down hard and the waves were coming in strong that it nearly wiped the kids away. Tanning in the sun Mum and Dad enjoyed their day outside. But something ruined their small summer evening.

A shadow was lurking in amongst the seaweed. “That’s weird” said Max. “That’s not our shadow” he said mysteriously. “AAAAAHHHHHhhhhh” screamed Christian as her leg was tugged and pulled underneath the silent sea. Gasping for air Max tried to look for his sister but their was no sight of his poor innocent sister.

Later that night everyone ran out with their torch and searched and searched until daylight came.  “I think I found something” stated Greg, Christian’s uncle. “Please say that it’s Christian” sobbed Max, “is she alive?” he stammered.  “Sorry son” his father said sadly. “Your sisters...well...um gone” he sobbed as well as the body of his daughter was hard to look at. Christian’s mother was also crying her heart out wishing that she had her only daughter back.

Then the next day all of the family came to her beautiful yet sad event. Everyone was crying but was happy that she was in a better place with her grand parents.

Netboo Reflection 2012

This year the use of having a netbook is really handy. It has been a great year with the netbook. Being a year 8 means that I get to use it at College next year. Tamaki College is the college that I will be attending.

The first year when I had my netbook was last year, being a year 7. I didn't know what to do until Mrs Burt showed us how.

At Pt England School we have had the netbooks for 3 years. These small laptops are very clever in their own ways. Some netbooks have smart settings and more.

This years internet is way slower than last years internet wireless. Maybe it's because we have more students on netbooks?

The netbooks have improved my learning by going on websites that helps me and games that are mad for teaching how to type or even how to learn different sorts of ways to learn maths.

Will I ever go back to pencil and paper? No way because with these netbooks it's easier to type than write plus there is more exciting things online than in a book.

Term 4 Reflection

This Term, Term 4 was an very interesting term. Laughter, sadness, Sacrifice, Dedication and Desire. All things bring an amazing ending to the year.  Being a Year 8 is really sad because all these 8 years at Pt England School has been great. Going on outings and trips, exploring things and also spending time together. This has been a great year.

Next week the year 8’s are going to Ngaruawahia for camp. This will be a great experience. But today the athletics final is being held at the Pt England Reserve. Hopefully our Pt England students will try their best and succeed and win victory. Good Luck Pt England.

Even though this my last year at Pt England, this school has taught me heaps. Striving to succeed and choosing to believe. Don’t give up on dreams and more. This has been the best 8 years ever.

Tech at Tamaki College

“MMMM YUM!” stated the kids in food tech as they tried their delectable and delicious food. Mrs Heka and the food tech students like baking delicious treats that they might want to eat.Every Thursday Yr 8 students from Pt England School get the chance to experience some of the technology that might happen at college next year. This takes takes place at Tamaki College. Every term we get to switch. Apparently this is our last tech for the year. But for those who is going to this college gets the opportunity to stay and learn the same things and more.

The technologies are Food, Hard Materials (Wood) and Japanese. The teachers to all these wonderful yet tricky technologies are Ms Heka (Food), Mr Grundy (Wood) and Mr Ishibashi (Japanese). These wonderful teachers teach us many things to learn. We have fun most times and sometimes its just silly.

This Thursday was a very interesting Thursday in food tech. So interesting that we had to bake by ourselves. 6 cooks anxiously waiting to find out what they were going to bake. “We are going to bake muffins” said Ms Heka. “All you need to do is get your trollies and get your equipment ready” ordered Ms Heka.

Quickly we prepared our equipment and  started to get the ingredients. Sometimes one of the bakers would always make a mistake and that person was Toko.

When the muffins came out of the oven we put them on the cooling rack to cool down. As they were cooling we were busy cleaning benches and the top of our stoves.

“MMMM YUM!” everyone except me enjoyed the gooey yogurt that was inside the delectable treat. Mrs Heka was very proud of the 6 students that was in her class. “This is more better than having 18 students” she said smartly.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Excellent presenters practised and practised until it was time for their turn to present their movie.

On a bright sunny Wednesday Pt England School had the chance to go to the Manaiakalani Film Festival. The Manaiakalani Film Festival is held at Sylvia Park once every year. For the past 5 years the Manaiakalani film Festival has screened movies from schools around our cluster.

It all started at Tamaki College......the first Manaiakalani Film Festival. Children around our cluster had the opportunity to enter this fine competition to make it on the biiiiiig screen at Sylvia Park.

“What a beautiful day” I thought looking up at the clouds wondering what might happen as we boarded the bus. Team 5 had split into three buses. Room 20 and Room 19 in one bus. Room 21 and 22 in another. Finally Room 18 in the last bus. Laughter and horrible singing was shared among the bus that I was on. “HAHAHAHA!” Girls laughed at the boys that were trying to sing.

Finally we came to our destination......Sylvia Park. We were all anxious to pick our seats in the theater at Hoyts Cinemas. Running up the stairs so they can get some seats everyone was determined to watch the movies.
My favourite movies were “The Test” by Room 18 at Pt England SChool also “I know I can” also by Room 20 talented kids at Pt England.

Term 3 Fitness Goal Movie

Last term I had to accomplish a goal setting animation. And as accomplishing things our teacher Mrs Lagitupu assigned us to do a animation based on a fitness goal.

Athletics

"On your marks……Get Set……..Gooooooo!" yelled Mr Jacobsen as the races began.  Making their way to the finish line the racers  anxiously ran determined to go to the finals.

Last Thursday Pt England School had a major event going on.  This event was Athletics. Bright colors blended together making a beautiful sight. We were gathered onto the hard court to organize into our age groups. 4 teams called Te Arawa (Red), Tainui (Blue), Matatua (Green) and finally Takitumu (Yellow) shouting chants from one way to the other.

The day began with a crowd of students going in different directions. The age group I was in was 12 year old girls.  Te Arawa was the team that I had to represent.  Confused and frustrated I started to feel sore and sick but I knew what to do...... Facing my fears and trying my best.

The first rotations began as we walked towards the discus area where Mr Harris showed us how to hold and throw the flat round object. Some of us had a practice and became good at it.....really good at it. One by one each girl had a turn. Everyone except Jessica I, Dante B, Hainite and I. When it came to my turn I felt a bit nervous because discus wasn’t my favourite  sport and I wasn’t great at it. Well at least I tried.

My favourite toy

My favourite toy is a teddy bear because I have had it ever since I was born. My great grandmother was the person who gave it to me.

My teddy bear has a heart with a sign that says ‘I Love You’ on it.
My bear is a brownish colour and it is quite large.

My favourite toy makes me feel happy because I have had it for over 12 years. It  reminds me of my first birthday because  I had a teddy bear birthday cake.

The best memories I have of my favourite toy are when I was really young. I used to cuddle it and sleep with it. That is what my favourite toy contains: love, passion and joy.

The Mysterious Mist

Looking up Milly, Molly, Mum and Dad were traumatised at the weather. “Really a wet day huh” Mum asked. “Yep” said Dad. All you can see was black clouds lurking and hovering over your heads. Luckily they were prepared for this uncooperative weather.

Walking onto the narrow path towards the bush Molly was echoing and all the birds flew as though there was a big fat animal scary enough to scare such creatures.

Out of the blue a mist had came and approached the four people as they were enjoying their walk. The mist came faster and faster until it had taken Molly away.

“Oh no” Mum and Dad noticed as soon as they turned around to see if anyone was following them.  “One of the kids are missing” they said sadly. “AAAHHH!” Milly screamed as she was also taken away. “How is this happening” they screamed loudly, but there was no one else there with them that time.

“Wait a minute” he said to his partner. “that mist, it must have taken them away some place” he said positively sure that the mist had something to do with it. “Are you sure?” Mum asked. “Yeah I am sure because the mist was catching up faster and faster and they were the only ones at the back” he replied. “Oh no!” “I hope they are alright” said Mum concerned at what might happen to her 2 year old and 7 year old.

The sun came out and the mist went away. But where were the girls that magically disappeared. Well they were tied up behind a tree. Grateful that they had their little girls back, Mum and Dad untied them and took them to a nice place to eat as they didn’t have any food with them. Everyone was safe and nobody got hurt.  The mist on the other hand was never discovered ever again. For this reason the owner had to shut and convicted the whole park even the bush area. The family of four lived happily ever after.....

An unusual day at Grandma's house

“Isn’t this nice, just me and you having a nice girls talk with no one bothering us” Grandma said as she took a sip of her tea. Mum was also talking about their past and how they used to spend heaps of time together.

While these lovely ladies were relaxing and chatting over a cup of tea, Max stared into a book and started to read loudly.  “Shhh Max” moaned mum “can’t you see we’re busy”. “Sorry” he yelled from the lounge.

While Mum and Grandma were outside, Max quietly read from the lounge where nobody could hear him. So he had the whole space to himself. But not for long........

Later that day an unfortunate event happened. Max’s pet Snappy the Alligator had been let out of his cage. Quietly Snappy creeped outside, while everything was really quiet.

AAAAGGGGHHHH! Mum and Grandma screamed. “What’s happening out there” said Max. “Wait a minute I know that scream” he thought to himself. “Snappy!” he yelled. As soon as he ran towards the patio, Snappy his pet Alligator was on the ground waiting for Mum and Grandma to get off the table so he could have a feast.

Max had to think of a plan. With only a small amount of time left before Snappy jumps on the table, Max thought of an idea. “I know what to do” he said to his scared mum and grandma. “Okay then hurry” they both said trying to stay calm.

Max hurried to the animal’s cage and right next to it was it’s food. “Here it is” he smiled to himself. Running to the alligator he yelled “here Snappy over here boy”. Snappy quickly scurried over to where his food was and munched happily. “Finally” Max said tiredly. That was really exhausting.

Narrative Practice

“Oh no!” Mum, Mark and Cindy laughed sarcastically. Dad was painting the seating area while everyone was sitting on the sofa. “Has he always been this terrible at painting?” asked Cindy. Mark and Cindy laughed at the sight in front of them. Poor Dad was making a fool of himself. “Dad has always been that clumsy” said Mark. “I guess that is why he is not doing a good job” Mum replied as the sight of her husband was unbearable.

A few drops of paint splattered onto Dad’s face. “Oh no!” he whispered to himself, “why did this happen?” As he thought about this question there was a slight smirk on his face. He glanced around the seating area while his family wasn’t looking. “Well at least no one saw what happened” Saying this he looked on the floor next to him. There Fluffy’ the cat, lay next to him with paint all over her.

He was embarrassed and shocked that his mistake got caught on camera. “I guess I’ll remember this forever” He said sadly. Looking back at what had happened. He remembered that the cat ran across bumped the ladder and that is how he got paint splattered onto his face. “You little trouble maker” he laughed as he cleaned up the mess. At least this problem has been solved.

Tamaki Tachnology

Every Thursday Pt England Yr 8 students have the opportunity to learn different technology. The group I am in is food technology.  We have to be in groups of 2 or 3. Yesterday we had a small team. There was only 10 of us, 7 girls and 3 boys.  We were making chocolate chip cookies. My partner was Selina L.Cutting the chocolate chips into quarters and making sure I won’t be tempted to eat it.  Finished chopping the delicious treat. Next while Selina was busy doing something else. I started rinsing the dishes. On the tray the dough went as we rolled it into small balls. As we finished we put it onto the bench and Miss Heka put it in the oven. "Number 1" she called as I started doing the dishes. Rinsing first then washing. "Ready" she called. Everyone grabbed an oven mitt so they won't burn themselves.
At the end it all went well and tasted great. I wonder what were cooking next time.

Term 3 Reflection

Olympic inspiration, Dedication, Desire and Determination. This was the motto and topic of this term, Term 3. Learning about famous athletes and pass athletes around the world. This term I have learnt about many things about different athletes and different sports. Did you know that London has hosted the Olympics 3 times.

My favourite part of Term 3 was Olympic sports day. It is like the Olympics but instead of being at an arena, it's at school. Cool aye. This Olympic sports day was also welcomed to 16 different countries around the world. That was a great experience, plus we didn't have to dress in school uniform.

The part I didn't like this term was coming to school late and writing. That was what I had hated the most. But now that it is near the school holidays I am glad that I can have a rest.

This term was an unbelievable term. Random events coming out during the week. Raising money for causes like helping deaf kids have a voice. Then at the end of the week is school holidays. Yay!

Olympic Sports Day

Marching around the court, 16 countries from around the world gathered at one destination and that was Pt England School to have an event called Olympic sports day. Yesterday was that day for the appropriate event. Sun shining everyone smiling. Then the ceremony had begun.

The day had began with an astonishing view of colours from different people in the school. Everyone had gathered on the hardcourts in their countries for example Argentina, Romania, Sweden, Jamaica,  Wales, France and loads more. The sun was shining as we started to walk around the court. Chants from different countries especially Kenya yelling “Kenya Usher Kenya Usher Kenya Usher Chehoo” “OMG this is like a big ceremony’’ I thought.

As we began the rotation the team I was in was Romania. We started with my favourite sport Basketball. The teacher of the game was Mr Bark one of the best Basketball teachers in the school. As we started we only had 11 kids in our team. The other team had a big team. So how was it possible for us to play? Well that was a good question until Mr Barks had said pick 5 from your team to play then swap. As we played Kaiden had the ball. “Over here” I yelled. He quickly threw the ball before anyone can mark him. As I grabbed it I then dribbled. Final reached where the hoop was and as I was about to shot I threw the ball high and landed straight into the hoop. “What the hell” people moaned as they knew they had lost. That was the best shoot I had ever done.

My favourite activity was sitting Volley. It was like normal Volley but you just play sitting down. If your asking if that is a little bit different. Then yes it is different and cool at the same time. What  a great day that we had.

Girls Semi Final Match Against Koru

Exhilarating heat burst down on the crowd and Yr7 & 8 Pt England girls as they were playing a rugby match against Koru. “Go Pt England” the crowed cheered as they were smashing through their opponents. This mighty team can not be beaten or can they?

It started off with a sunny Friday afternoon. The rugby game was at Pt England School on the top field. As they scrambled onto the field, Pt England was ready to play against this school called Koru. There the Yr7 & 8 girls had the opportunity to win the semi final match.

Some of the Pt England students had been watching the game. This awesome and hard match was important to our school because it meant even going to championships. That would be great. We sat in an unrelieved spot and guess where it was, not in the shade but in the...... hot....sun. “Far out man” I thought to myself. “Isn’t there a spot where we can chill and relax” saying this was really annoying. I asked my teacher if I can sit under the shade but she said no.

As the game was finishing up our girls managed to get a tie. But was that good enough to get us to the final? Well who knew? We left even before our girls had lost. Mr J our referee for some of our matches said they had to battle it out to see who win. Apparently our girls lost.

This game was an awesome way to finish off the day. Although we didn’t get to see the ending. Seeing how tough our girls were out there made our school very proud. The score was 8-3 which meant we lost by a try. Oh well maybe next time.
Well done Pt England!

What If I was a principal

Experience the life of an excellent principal and it’s personal abilities. What if I was the principal? Well let me start the “What If” imagination. It will be like this. Most principal’s are bossy and annoying. So the students will probably gap it out of the school and never go back. Would you be that kind of person? I know I wouldn’t. That would be annoying like waking up early in the morning....just to get to work.

The thing that I might do if I become a principal will allow the students to have Ipads or even what we have now.....Netbooks. When it comes to sport I would let them enjoy the sport that they are playing and make sure they succeed.

Being principal will be.....not my favourite job but, I guess that it will be a great job to be apart of. Having loads of meetings with different associates from different schools. Even being awarded their time in assembly.

Even getting nearly free trips like we do nowadays in this school, Pt England. It would be awesome....really! This will be a difficult job because you might have to attend everyday.

What If I had Super Powers

What If I had Super Powers?
Ultimate strength mysteriously popping into my veins as I approached the fear of what might happen. What if I had super powers? Well the only super powers I would allow myself to use will be strength and flight or even reading minds. I would wear a purple and blue cape to help me balance while flying.

Flying would be awesome. I would be as free as a bird. Feeling the wind in your face and through your hair, that would be an awesome way to be a superhero. Helping pets get out of trees and houses that are on fire, even fighting crime. That would be fun. Reading minds are only used if I have to figure something out and see if anyone is hiding anything. Strength will be used to lift things for emergencies only.

Helping kids and people that is among our city, will be a great opportunity to help people in need like the homeless or the poor people. Even flying to countries that need rebuilding and learning. This would be a better way to represent yourself like Barack Obama for example, the first black president in the USA. I would be as powerful as a president.

If there was ever an ultimate job that needed superheroes I would be there right away in my car. Not that fancy but you know not every superhero has a flash car. One day this will be real and if I have turned against my people then hell will be let loose. This would be an amazing, yet hard job.

What If.... I was a billionaire?

What if?
What if I was a billionaire? If I was a billionaire then I would probably go on a trip around the world with my family and make them proud. Also go to Hawaii and enjoy the beautiful sites that they offer. Especially enjoying the hot sun.  This would be awesome like being awarded a trophy.

An appropriate and wise decision would be spending the money on important things like clothes, food and trips. I would take my brothers and sisters to the Gold Coast which is very expensive. Also using the money on buying what my mother would like as well.

The house I might live in is a very famous hotel or mansion with pools outside and a great big backyard to play on. This would be an excellent place for us to spend some family time together. As we all celebrate the victory we would have a big family fest.

If I had spare money I would give it to sponsors like St Johns Appeal or something like that. Being able to give is a very special thing like giving to the homeless. If you feel like you can do more to the world then give generously to sponsors that need helping.

Thanks a lot.

Mini Olympics

Rotation started, everyone in different lines had split into different directions making a huge stampede of kids. Pt England Students from Team 4 and 5 gathered towards the hall. Nobody knew what was going on, especially me coming late.  But eventually our principal had announced that we were going to have our own mini-version of the Olympics. Lining up quickly into four lines, frustrated leaders yelling and screaming to tell their team mates to get into proper straight lines.

The rotations began everybody had moved different directions. I asked what we were doing with an unknown glance. They had explained that we were doing mini-olympics.What is mini-olympics? I asked myself. This thought was on my mind the whole time. I didn't know what I was doing so I went and asked Mr Burt and he advised me to go to the street with Mr Slade. His activity was Jump Jam. Which was sort of cool. Copying what this guy was doing, there were kids that were already sweating.

Next rotation finally caught up with the group that I was supposed to be in. Te Arawa 2, Matthew T had lead the group towards the hall for the next activity. Mr Burt had begun a relay activity. First we started of with a ball in between the legs just pass the knees. It was really hard because we had to get the ball to the other side into the bucket without dropping it. Hopping and hopping, kids kept on drooping the ball. It was funny for a while but then everyone stop laughing and started to encourage their team mates.

''Te Arawa 2 Maatatua 2 your next activity is.....in the Staff room with Mr Jacobsen'' Mr Burt had announced. As we walked into the room people behind me were laughing and playing around. As we sighted the playstation and the words SINGSTAR we all gasped and moaned seeing that they weren't that kind of person to do singstar. Unless they do it in their own time.
First competition was between Kevin and Knight. It was really funny because they were singing "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Huston. It was down to the last minute just catching up Knight had witness the power of nearly a tie. Eventually our arch enemy for that day had their victory.

At the end of all the different exercises, everyone gathered back in the hall to watch the news together. This was the most fun and exciting event ever. Hopefully we can do it again.

Making Good Choices

Are you making good choices? Well if you're not sure this post might help you. This year Room 21 had the opportunity to learn more about making good choices. Lynne is a lady that works with a giraffe called Harold. He helps kids like us and younger learn about how the body system works and what effects it.They teach their lessons in a caravan which is called ‘The Life Caravan’. Usually kids learn about these kinds of stuff so that they can watch out for chemicals and other harmful things that abuse their body. Living a healthy way is a better way to live than an unhealthy one.

Why should you have to make good choices? Making good choices is the way of living a healthy and responsible life.  People make bad choices which lead into bad consequences later on in life. But if you make good choices you might even be awarded for making the most good choices. That would be awesome, right?

Later on in the lesson we were talking about alcohol abuse which is another way to effect the body. The teacher, Lyn showed how it can affect our body by saying that young bodys alcohol can affect quickly unless you’re 18 or older. She read an article about a boy that was 16 years of age which was way under the legal age had a whole bottle of vodka at party. She said he was paralyzed and everyone thought he was sleeping. I guess they had a reason to because they didn’t know what he was doing. I reckon if they checked his pulse then he would've made it to the hospital, instead he died.

Have you or even a person you know has trouble with the use of drugs and cigarettes? This will encourage you to know more about what you putting into your body. Tar, Nicotine and ingredients from cleaning stuff. Would you put those sort of things into your mouth? I know I wouldn’t. To quit smoking there is a website called quit.org. It will help you to quit and make a better world for everyone.

Did you know an adult liver can only process one standard drink an hour. If the drinker had drunk more than one standard drink then the rest gets pumped into the blood and around the body and then affects the brain. Sometimes some drinkers call it a hangover. Did you know that the cause of smoking is Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer and Swollen Legs. That is why smoking is bad for our health and so is drugs and alcohol.

So make the right choices and you will live a perfect life, but not everyone can live a great life. Like me being only 12 years of age even young people make mistakes.

Cross-Country Experience

Nervously trying to force myself to run as the mucky mud splashed across my legs and into my shoes. There was an event that we had to participate in. It was called Cross-Country. Changed and ready to go the Pt England students were directed onto the hard-courts. A noisy crowd of students were eager to start and see what place they would come.

Mr Burt announced that the field was going to be really muddy. So we had to be careful not to get stuck in the mud. Children screamed and yelled hoping they could enjoy the mud sloshed against them.

As some children were running their races, the other children had the chance to support their house and them. “GO YOU CAN DO IT” everyone was shouting as kids representing their  houses were excited that they had the opportunity to do so. Crossing the finish line kids were exhausted and drowned with mud from their feet all the way up to their legs. Now that’s what I call a close finish.

It’s our 12 year old girls turn. Butterflies in my stomach as I experience the cross-country fear. To be honest I felt a little bit umm... scared as if I was going to faint.  But I overcame those fears as Mr Burt count down from 3. 3....2....1 BANG! Off we went as although it was our last race.

Everyone sprinting through the lush green grass and muddy fields had mud splashed from their shoes to up their legs which was awful. As we reached the reserve, teachers were screaming and yelling at us to keep on going. Round the corner we went and up the hill towards the forest. Danger lurked among the forest as we were running, slipping and sliding through the mucky path.

It was the last kilometre of the race. Huffing and puffing as though I was dehydrated. Running a through the last bit of mud, proud that I made it near the end. Dizzy and exhausted feeling like I was going to pass out. Finally reaching the finish line I felt like it was going to be my last race. Now that is what I call Cross-Country.

Basketball Skill

Getting prepared for basketball as if we were in a real game. We completed challenges to build our strength in our mind as we concentrate to learn more skills.  Every Thursday Room 21 has been given an opportunity to learn some basketball skills. As often we always have to do sports on the hard court, unless it’s raining otherwise it is in the hall. Two coaches called Tai and Shae have been teaching us some difficult moves.  Developing skills for basketball is a great idea because you could improve your skills in basketball and can use it to make you fit.

There were another class that were on the hard court waiting for us as we were lining up into five straight lines. Getting started with challenges to build our minds with the concentration that we had to do.  Running and jumping is the first exercise we had to do. Then came dribbling the ball. It was really hard to bounce it straight while we were dribbling.

The hard part of another exercise which was to get the ball around our body and in order from around the head and around the middle then around the legs and we had to do it 20 times.  Faster and faster we went and eventually most of us had dropped the ball. It was really difficult for us because most of us weren’t used to playing basketball, especially me.

We were ready to finish Tai had announced that we were going to play a game. “This game is called......... Over and Under” he called. As we lined up straight we were prepared for the game. With the ball in one of the team members hands we were all eager to start.  “Ready...Steady...Go!” shouted Tai as we hastily pass the ball over and under. Although we didn’t get the chance to win we were very exhausted with excitement.

An Unexpected Win!

Happily winning as though they are champions that have accomplished their goal.
Overwhelmed with excitement when they discovered that they had won.
Celebrating with joy and enthusiasm the look of excitement shows on their facial expressions.
Victory is on their minds as they celebrate their triumph.
Proudly winning as though they have won a championship competition.

Wrestling

Tightly gripping his opponent in a perfect position.
Facial  expressions are on their faces as they try to strangle each other.
With great difficulty the wrestlers try to maintain their composure by trying to win the tournament.
Unexpectedly one of the wrestlers had been put into an arm-lock and was struggling to stay in the game.
Feeling hurt and sore, the wrestlers continued on wrestling with all the strength that they had left.

Thinking Ahead

Focusing hard as though it's her last time to compete in the Olympics.
Concentrating constantly and trying to aim for the middle of the target.
Concern is written across her face as she tries to figure out a way to win.
Thinking is all they can do in a situation like this, especially in the 2012 Olympics.
Their hearts beating fast as they nervously think about a strategy to hit the middle of the target.

My special place art

My special place is Mania Marae, Coromandel. This is my favourite place to be because it is where my family is buried. This is a great place to visit because the very special people that once were in my life are buried in that particular space.  Also I used to have picnics with my great-grandfather.
The artist I have chosen is a French artist called Henry Matisse. His unusual technique involves using bright colours. This particular artist is my favourite because I like to use bright colours in my art too.

Term 2 Reflection

It is the end of term 2 and already near the holidays. Hooray it’s time to think about what it was I had learnt this term. Well I have learnt about responsibility and learning how to do different things at different times.

This term I have learnt about different artist and their use of style in their art and about their life. There are different artist I have learnt about and there are 5. Henri Matisse who is famous for his use of bright colours and patterns. Vincent Van Gogh didn’t become famous until after he died. His sister-in-law had the honour of showing his painting to the world, that’s how this unusual artist became famous. Daniela Hulme is a New Zealand artist who is Dutch she paints tropical artwork and she got her inspiration from her husband that is Samoan. Pablo Picasso is famous for his unusual painting that he created with different shapes and also from different perspectives. The last artist I have learnt about this term was Claude Monet, his style is Impressionism. It is a really unique style.

Sports and education is what I had learnt  this term and the past 7 years and even this year being a year 8 student. This is the last year at Pt England School as I am moving on to the next year in my life.

This term has been very interesting learning about different artist and their unique style. This has been an interesting journey and it will be even better when we have the art expo tomorrow or on Wednesday. I guess it was a very interesting year so far.

Hansel and Gretel (Features of Narrative)

In a royal castle two little children called Hansel and Gretel opened the castle door and peeked outside. The weather was filled with sunshine. Hansel and Gretel have blonde hair and both had pale white skin. Hansel and Gretel were twins so they were the same age and they are 9yrs old. Their father had passed away, so their mother the queen of their home town had to look after them.

Running outside the little children came across a gingerbread house.

Chewing and chewing on the delectable treats, Hansel had grown fat. The wicked witch had tricked the poor little kids into eating the fat and unhealthy treats. Getting bigger and bigger the witch had ruined the poor little kids mind.

Suddenly a man who came out of the mist had been walking in the forest. Then he heard the sound of kids screaming. Apparently he knew the kids  was a very good friend to them. So he sneaked into the house and right in front of him was a cage that Hansel and Gretel had been captured in.

Just before the friend of the kids had done anything he was trying to figure he was going to rescue them. It was alright because the kids already had a plan. They had their own way. As they thought of  a plan they waited for the wicked witch to open the oven. When the witch had open the oven it was time to use their plan.

These weren’t ordinary kids. They had strength to twist the bars and break free. They both had powers to read other peoples mind. So they used their powers to set themselves free. They pushed the witch in the oven and quickly ran outside and found their  home. Their mother really missed them. They lived happily ever after....

Static Image 2

A static image is an image that lacks moment and also has a message in it.  This photo is a static image because its a still image. This is about a cat who is playing on the grass. The little cat has blue eyes. This photo to me is the cutest photo ever.

Kittens to me is the cutest pets ever. The person who captured this photo is capturing the happy moments of the pet’s life. The background is the grass and the subject is the cute little kitten. The shot is a close-up and it's very real.

Looking at the colours it makes the cat stand out a bit. The grass is a bit dull. I think that they put the camera on top so the cat would look little.

Static Image

A static image is a image that lack movements. This is a static image. The subject is a child by a straw hut and the background is in South Africa.

This is about a child standing next a straw hut. Looking at this makes me feel sad because some kids are poor and don’t have any parents. Most of South Africa has a side of poverty which means most people have nothing to eat or drink poisonous water. Children can die with unusual sickness. Looking among the photo I realised that this is a poor background. One of the supporters are Unicef, Unicef is a society to help  with health and food policy that looks after the hungry and was created in 1946. This child looks lost as though this kid has no parent.
