Tamaki Tachnology

Every Thursday Pt England Yr 8 students have the opportunity to learn different technology. The group I am in is food technology.  We have to be in groups of 2 or 3. Yesterday we had a small team. There was only 10 of us, 7 girls and 3 boys.  We were making chocolate chip cookies. My partner was Selina L.Cutting the chocolate chips into quarters and making sure I won’t be tempted to eat it.  Finished chopping the delicious treat. Next while Selina was busy doing something else. I started rinsing the dishes. On the tray the dough went as we rolled it into small balls. As we finished we put it onto the bench and Miss Heka put it in the oven. "Number 1" she called as I started doing the dishes. Rinsing first then washing. "Ready" she called. Everyone grabbed an oven mitt so they won't burn themselves.
At the end it all went well and tasted great. I wonder what were cooking next time.

Term 3 Reflection

Olympic inspiration, Dedication, Desire and Determination. This was the motto and topic of this term, Term 3. Learning about famous athletes and pass athletes around the world. This term I have learnt about many things about different athletes and different sports. Did you know that London has hosted the Olympics 3 times.

My favourite part of Term 3 was Olympic sports day. It is like the Olympics but instead of being at an arena, it's at school. Cool aye. This Olympic sports day was also welcomed to 16 different countries around the world. That was a great experience, plus we didn't have to dress in school uniform.

The part I didn't like this term was coming to school late and writing. That was what I had hated the most. But now that it is near the school holidays I am glad that I can have a rest.

This term was an unbelievable term. Random events coming out during the week. Raising money for causes like helping deaf kids have a voice. Then at the end of the week is school holidays. Yay!

Olympic Sports Day

Marching around the court, 16 countries from around the world gathered at one destination and that was Pt England School to have an event called Olympic sports day. Yesterday was that day for the appropriate event. Sun shining everyone smiling. Then the ceremony had begun.

The day had began with an astonishing view of colours from different people in the school. Everyone had gathered on the hardcourts in their countries for example Argentina, Romania, Sweden, Jamaica,  Wales, France and loads more. The sun was shining as we started to walk around the court. Chants from different countries especially Kenya yelling “Kenya Usher Kenya Usher Kenya Usher Chehoo” “OMG this is like a big ceremony’’ I thought.

As we began the rotation the team I was in was Romania. We started with my favourite sport Basketball. The teacher of the game was Mr Bark one of the best Basketball teachers in the school. As we started we only had 11 kids in our team. The other team had a big team. So how was it possible for us to play? Well that was a good question until Mr Barks had said pick 5 from your team to play then swap. As we played Kaiden had the ball. “Over here” I yelled. He quickly threw the ball before anyone can mark him. As I grabbed it I then dribbled. Final reached where the hoop was and as I was about to shot I threw the ball high and landed straight into the hoop. “What the hell” people moaned as they knew they had lost. That was the best shoot I had ever done.

My favourite activity was sitting Volley. It was like normal Volley but you just play sitting down. If your asking if that is a little bit different. Then yes it is different and cool at the same time. What  a great day that we had.

Girls Semi Final Match Against Koru

Exhilarating heat burst down on the crowd and Yr7 & 8 Pt England girls as they were playing a rugby match against Koru. “Go Pt England” the crowed cheered as they were smashing through their opponents. This mighty team can not be beaten or can they?

It started off with a sunny Friday afternoon. The rugby game was at Pt England School on the top field. As they scrambled onto the field, Pt England was ready to play against this school called Koru. There the Yr7 & 8 girls had the opportunity to win the semi final match.

Some of the Pt England students had been watching the game. This awesome and hard match was important to our school because it meant even going to championships. That would be great. We sat in an unrelieved spot and guess where it was, not in the shade but in the...... hot....sun. “Far out man” I thought to myself. “Isn’t there a spot where we can chill and relax” saying this was really annoying. I asked my teacher if I can sit under the shade but she said no.

As the game was finishing up our girls managed to get a tie. But was that good enough to get us to the final? Well who knew? We left even before our girls had lost. Mr J our referee for some of our matches said they had to battle it out to see who win. Apparently our girls lost.

This game was an awesome way to finish off the day. Although we didn’t get to see the ending. Seeing how tough our girls were out there made our school very proud. The score was 8-3 which meant we lost by a try. Oh well maybe next time.
Well done Pt England!

What If I was a principal

Experience the life of an excellent principal and it’s personal abilities. What if I was the principal? Well let me start the “What If” imagination. It will be like this. Most principal’s are bossy and annoying. So the students will probably gap it out of the school and never go back. Would you be that kind of person? I know I wouldn’t. That would be annoying like waking up early in the morning....just to get to work.

The thing that I might do if I become a principal will allow the students to have Ipads or even what we have now.....Netbooks. When it comes to sport I would let them enjoy the sport that they are playing and make sure they succeed.

Being principal will be.....not my favourite job but, I guess that it will be a great job to be apart of. Having loads of meetings with different associates from different schools. Even being awarded their time in assembly.

Even getting nearly free trips like we do nowadays in this school, Pt England. It would be awesome....really! This will be a difficult job because you might have to attend everyday.

What If I had Super Powers

What If I had Super Powers?
Ultimate strength mysteriously popping into my veins as I approached the fear of what might happen. What if I had super powers? Well the only super powers I would allow myself to use will be strength and flight or even reading minds. I would wear a purple and blue cape to help me balance while flying.

Flying would be awesome. I would be as free as a bird. Feeling the wind in your face and through your hair, that would be an awesome way to be a superhero. Helping pets get out of trees and houses that are on fire, even fighting crime. That would be fun. Reading minds are only used if I have to figure something out and see if anyone is hiding anything. Strength will be used to lift things for emergencies only.

Helping kids and people that is among our city, will be a great opportunity to help people in need like the homeless or the poor people. Even flying to countries that need rebuilding and learning. This would be a better way to represent yourself like Barack Obama for example, the first black president in the USA. I would be as powerful as a president.

If there was ever an ultimate job that needed superheroes I would be there right away in my car. Not that fancy but you know not every superhero has a flash car. One day this will be real and if I have turned against my people then hell will be let loose. This would be an amazing, yet hard job.

What If.... I was a billionaire?

What if?
What if I was a billionaire? If I was a billionaire then I would probably go on a trip around the world with my family and make them proud. Also go to Hawaii and enjoy the beautiful sites that they offer. Especially enjoying the hot sun.  This would be awesome like being awarded a trophy.

An appropriate and wise decision would be spending the money on important things like clothes, food and trips. I would take my brothers and sisters to the Gold Coast which is very expensive. Also using the money on buying what my mother would like as well.

The house I might live in is a very famous hotel or mansion with pools outside and a great big backyard to play on. This would be an excellent place for us to spend some family time together. As we all celebrate the victory we would have a big family fest.

If I had spare money I would give it to sponsors like St Johns Appeal or something like that. Being able to give is a very special thing like giving to the homeless. If you feel like you can do more to the world then give generously to sponsors that need helping.

Thanks a lot.

Mini Olympics

Rotation started, everyone in different lines had split into different directions making a huge stampede of kids. Pt England Students from Team 4 and 5 gathered towards the hall. Nobody knew what was going on, especially me coming late.  But eventually our principal had announced that we were going to have our own mini-version of the Olympics. Lining up quickly into four lines, frustrated leaders yelling and screaming to tell their team mates to get into proper straight lines.

The rotations began everybody had moved different directions. I asked what we were doing with an unknown glance. They had explained that we were doing mini-olympics.What is mini-olympics? I asked myself. This thought was on my mind the whole time. I didn't know what I was doing so I went and asked Mr Burt and he advised me to go to the street with Mr Slade. His activity was Jump Jam. Which was sort of cool. Copying what this guy was doing, there were kids that were already sweating.

Next rotation finally caught up with the group that I was supposed to be in. Te Arawa 2, Matthew T had lead the group towards the hall for the next activity. Mr Burt had begun a relay activity. First we started of with a ball in between the legs just pass the knees. It was really hard because we had to get the ball to the other side into the bucket without dropping it. Hopping and hopping, kids kept on drooping the ball. It was funny for a while but then everyone stop laughing and started to encourage their team mates.

''Te Arawa 2 Maatatua 2 your next activity is.....in the Staff room with Mr Jacobsen'' Mr Burt had announced. As we walked into the room people behind me were laughing and playing around. As we sighted the playstation and the words SINGSTAR we all gasped and moaned seeing that they weren't that kind of person to do singstar. Unless they do it in their own time.
First competition was between Kevin and Knight. It was really funny because they were singing "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Huston. It was down to the last minute just catching up Knight had witness the power of nearly a tie. Eventually our arch enemy for that day had their victory.

At the end of all the different exercises, everyone gathered back in the hall to watch the news together. This was the most fun and exciting event ever. Hopefully we can do it again.
